The Saint-Mont vineyard stretches over 1,300 ha on the West side of the Gers Department.

Saint-Mont wines exist in three colours and local grape varieties are in favour. Red and rosé wines come from Tannat (60%), Pinenc (20%), Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties. As for white wines, they are produced from Arrufiac, Petit Courbu and Gros Manseng.

Its origin goes back to the 4th century BC but it is only around 1050 that it developed strongly with the foundation of the Saint-Mont monastery by Benedictine monks. For 30 years, the winegrowers members of the Producteurs Plaimont have worked in order to give back to the Saint-Mont wines a reputation acquired in the times of the pilgrims of Santiago de Compostela. In 1981, the designation of origin ‘Vin de qualité délimitée supérieure’ (wine of superior quality) is given to the Saint-Mont wine.
